Children and Young People Section "Treasure Island"

The section, called "Treasure Island" and open since 15th December 2000, consists of five rooms:

The reception: provided with the loan/information desk, a waiting sofa, some display stands showing brand new books, CD- ROM and VHS, a photocopier and a toilet;
The group work lab: for guided visits and group works (25 seats). In the same room are held fable and foreign books;
Fiction area: provided with fiction, detective stories, science fiction and game books (8 seats);
Divulgation area: holding divulgation books for young people (10 seats);
Children area: holding fiction and divulgation books for children (6 seats).

In addition to these five rooms there is the tale tower, an area dedicated to children entertainment and "storytime".

The book holding of this section is about 5000 volumes: 3000 at disposal and 2000 which are held out of sight in the stacks since they are old or partially obsolete. Moreover there are plenty of cartoons, both on VHS and DVD. (See also Multimedia).
